Students

Our Young Adults Group meets fortnightly in the evening to share in fellowship, discuss aspects of faith, eat, and pray together

Opportunities to get involved out at St Mary’s include everything from serving coffees, doing readings in services and serving at the altar

St Mary’s is an inclusive church that welcomes everybody. Students are particularly welcome to join us for our regular weekly services. If you are new to the Christian faith or seeking to further explore your faith, we also run occasional courses, talks and confirmation classes. For those looking to get more involved in the life of the church there is a plenty of opportunities for volunteering.

Whatever way you choose to get involved, we hope St Mary’s will become a place of comfort and joy for you during your studies and beyond.

About St Mary’s

St Mary’s is a historic Anglican church based in Nottingham’s city centre. Our worship is generally traditional, usually accompanied by a robed choir, but we are an open-minded church, exploring new ways of connecting with the local community. All are welcome, and our congregation includes people of any age, nationality, race, gender, sexuality and physical ability.

What students say

“I first came to St Mary’s seeking the peace and calmness of choral worship, especially Evensong, as I worshipped at a cathedral before I moved to Nottingham. I love the beauty and history of the tradition, and the tranquillity it can bring, especially at the end of a busy day!”
Tess

“When I first came to Nottingham as a student I tried a few of the large student churches but I wasn’t comfortable there. St Mary’s offered me a quieter, more traditional style of worship that gave me space to consider my faith and reach my own conclusions. I quickly started to feel part of the ‘family’.”
