Since arriving in the East Midlands four years ago, it’s been a continuing pleasure to discover more and more the richness and diversity of Nottingham. It’s been so good to get to know a wide range of people from all walks of life. Here at St Mary’s our aim is to welcome all, as we join together in worship or in whatever it is that has led to our paths crossing.
I remain as excited as ever by the amazing opportunity there is at St Mary’s, with I am sure young people from our universities, colleges and schools very much part of it. Located at the heart of the historic Lace Market, we are a ‘must visit’ in Nottingham. That’s not just for the beautiful building or for our outstanding music. If ever there was a time when we need spaces where we can be still, find solace and companionship, we are surely living in it. Most of us discover that life can at times be anything but easy.
You’ll see that the big poster at our gate welcomes you to ‘a haven of peace and a beacon of hope’. We have been here many centuries and along with others from the past, I hope you too will discover here something which is truly restorative, inspirational and lasting.
I look forward to meeting you and to have the chance to spend a bit of time together, whether you come for a visit here, or join us at one of our services or at one of the many other things going on here.
