Our doors are open both literally and metaphorically, as we seek to offer hospitality to everyone, regardless of age, background, or perspective. This commitment sometimes requires us to ask difficult questions of ourselves, so that we can identify and remove barriers to inclusion. At St Mary’s, there should be no sense that anyone ‘does not fit’. |
| We seek to enable people to encounter the living God through Transcendent Worship that is joyful, beautiful, and accessible. Drawing on the richness of the Anglican liturgical and choral tradition and engaging with diverse expressions of faith we aim to create worship that invites both reverence and wonder. Through our arts and cultural programme, we open new pathways into the mystery of God, offering moments of awe, reflection, and inspiration. |
| St Mary’s seeks to be a place for Exploring and Deepening Faith. We honour the complexity of belief and the reality of doubt, offering thoughtful and engaging teaching that speaks to the questions of our time. Through regular opportunities for learning, prayer, and reflection, we support one another to grow in our relationship with God and each other. |
| We are committed to being a Church for the City: a community that engages confidently and generously with the world around us. We aim to respond to the needs and challenges of Nottingham by building relationships with a wide range of people, organisations and businesses and by seeking partnership with all who share a concern for the city’s wellbeing. We aim to use our building and grounds creatively, making them spaces of welcome, meeting and hospitality. At times, this will involve countering negative impressions of the church. Through community events, outreach and practical action, we seek to bring church to the people and people to church. |
