An Evening with the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra and Braimah Kanneh-Mason

On Saturday 6 July at 7:30pm the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra will be joined by Braimah Kanneh-Mason, from Nottingham’s famous musical family.

Braimah will be the soloist in Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E Minor, one of the most beloved in the violin repertoire.

The NSO will also present Weber’s Der Freischutz Overture – a concert opener featuring a mix of high drama and fine melodies – and conclude with Bruckner’s epic Fourth Symphony (‘Romantic’).

St Mary’s makes the ideal venue for this celebration of the Austro-German repertoire, with its fine acoustics and picturesque interior.

General admission £16, Concessions £14 and £5 for under 18 and full-time students. You can book your tickets at www.nottinghamsymphony.org.uk or www.ticketsource.co.uk/nottinghamsymphonyorchestra. Alternatively you can email [email protected] or phone 07733 312322. Tickets are available on the door subject to availability.

Choral Scholars’ End of Year Concert

Every year St Mary’s welcomes a number of choral scholars into its community from both of Nottingham’s universities. These gifted individuals sing with the choir at mid-week and Sunday Evensong, and Sunday Eucharist, alongside other various Holy days and High days. Throughout the year our scholars receive subsidised tuition and masterclasses, as well as the opportunity to participate in various recordings, broadcasts and tours.

This Sunday (16 June), at 8pm, our choral scholars will be giving a concert featuring a number of solo pieces. All scholars will also be involved in performing a varied choral repertoire.

This opportunity to hear high class singing comes with the added bonus of free admission, so please join us and support the scholars as they finish off another fine year of music making.

Nottingham Lightest Night 2019

St Mary’s in the Lace Market/The Creative Quarter Summer Garden Party

On Friday June 21st Nottingham will build on the success of Light Night by holding its first ever Lightest Night.

On the year’s longest day, it’s hoped venues will stay open later and encourage families to enjoy the city centre at its best on what we trust will be a lovely summer evening.

St Mary’s Church and the Creative Quarter Company will be marking the occasion by holding a garden party in the church grounds between 5pm and 8pm.

With kind support from Bildurn, based in nearby St Mary’s School, and Castle Rock Brewery, whose Kean’s Head public house is next door, we will be pleased to offer you a drink or two. There will also be live musical entertainment.

Most of all, there will be the opportunity to meet and mingle with the community of business people who make the Lace Market and Hockley such great places to work.

We look forward to seeing you on Lightest Night.
